This case is such a trajesty. Having read all the articles and some of the appeals documents posted on the web, it is apparent that this case is based on nothing but lies. I can not believe that the DEA/DOJ were so stupid to continue an investigation and conviction after all their witnesses have so poorly been able to tell a consistent story. The additional aspect that all these patients were diagnosed with the same ailments and received the same treatments that Dr. Rottschaefer prescribed from other physicians is disturbing. Equally disturbing is the fact the DEA/DOJ had this information and withheld it from the courts and the defense. Now to read how Mary Beth Buchanan and her colleague Mary McKeen Houghton used plea bargains to buy perjuried testimony is even more distrubing. It is very sad that an innocent man has gone to jail because Ms. Buchanan wanted a statistic. It is alarming to see how the prosecutors in this case throw around sex accusations to demonize an individual and then provide no evidence to support the claims. All in all, the good doctor should be exonerated by now. As for Ms. Buchanan and Ms. Houghton, buying testimony, putting perjury on the stand, coercing false testimony, and basically framing an innocent individual should be the ones in jail. This is a lesson to all about how a prosecutor can abuse their position of trust.
