faced, what seems like a head --
look at the thousand gold eyes --
isn't. Eat it. It revives the dead.
It's the runner's the thing thinking,
testing, reaching out, sinking
new roots while you're not paying
attention, saying something --
to a man who should have been
listening maybe, rather than
assuming (since his life's fine)
no one else would want to run.
