Not sure if everyone remembers, but four years ago Burgess only got the Democratic nod after the financial filing debacle of Rachel Cooper - who had gotten the endorsement and had the support of the 14th Ward. Not sure why Matt Merriman-Preston got involved in this one (Peduto?) . . . at the very least he should have discussed his prospective candidate with some of the ward chairs prior to launching her. Once Labor endorsed Lucille and the ACDC endorsed Phyllis, most everyone knew it was over . . . and that Burgess would win. He lucked out (again).
