If you advertise with CP or have a high-traffic area to hang an award with their logo on it, you'll win something.

I was speaking with the manager of a very popular local bar on the South Side last year when he mentioned how he got a call from CP telling him that he had won three awards! He says cool, and they ask him if he wants to buy a giant "THANK YOU PITTSBURGH" ad. He says no. He then says no to every other pitch they send his way.

When he checked the paper - was down to winning just 1 award.

Chris Potter, don't you work for the City Paper? Aren't you the editor? Your voting system is a joke. I understand you have 2 different sections "Best of" and "Staff Picks" probably because you want people to think that the votes aren't tainted in any way. This way yinz can say look we have both the staff picks and the public's pick. This has been and always remain a joke to all companies that are ever in the running, unless you are the guy who spends a ton of money in advertising and was rewarded with a best of. You will never now or ever will compare to the best of from AOL and Barsmart, which are true to the vote of the public and their is no politics behind it.

Once again you have made a joke of Pittsburgh by not letting the votes decide the end results. Sports Rock as the best sports bar, best dance club Matrix, best Italian restaurant Bravo, and all the other crap that is listed as the "BEST OF"? Once again you have proven to the city that whoever advertises the most in your paper wins some kind of award in the "BEST OF". You should change the name to "The Best of Crap in Pittsburgh" Dan Ono"RAT"o would top that list.
