I am somewhere in the middle class on this...to deny the effects of race in this country is asanine, but to blame this fully on white privelege is counter productive. Clearly there are other factors at play.
I have not gone to PPS, nor do I have children. but I would hope the requirements and the effects of not making the requirements are both clearly explained to parents and students, so that it is not a shock when kids want to go to college. It would also be nice for families to have reports every quarter to know where they stand.
I have a sad story with a happy ending too. Both parents died before I was 16, Domestic violence, alcoholic upbringings, lack of supervision, a 2.0 gpa and no $ for college. I joined the military, I did not sell drugs. Even in town best known for it's Meth.
I don't think the requirements are that hard to meet.

But to "not see color" is a mistake.
