Yellow cab makes a profit, why can't the Port Authority? Public transportation is a convenience, not a right. Just because you want a bus driving up and down your street every 10 seconds does not mean I want to subsidize it...
Cut the routes!!!! Use part timers!! I can't imagine the use of bus driver's shift over night. How many people are actually moving at these odd hours? Let part timers work from 6-10 AM and 3-7PM at a reduced rate without pension, retirement or benefits? Let part timers work the football games, pirate games etc when extra drivers are needed. These can be similar to "seasonal employees" not unlike the Post Office(another government run folly).
Maybe even Ravenstooge could hire the seasonal part timers to plow snow in the Burgh. He and his wonder twin Huss couldn't get it done!!!!
