Penn's Colony Festival

Penn’s Colony Festival recreates the “Publick Tymes” from 1753-1754, when General George Washington and his Virginia Colony militia surveyed western Pennsylvania to determine the French attempt to colonize the area, the land west of the Alleghenies. To celebrate this era, war re-enactors, the Faire Winds circus, bagpipers, Celtic bands and other entertainers combined with crafters of mid-1700’s art, food of the time and period games for kids greet fans of the era. Author and militia re-enactor Jason Cherry will be signing copies of his new book “Pittsburgh’s Lost Outposts,” about the life and times.
