Heather Kropf has been making music in Pittsburgh for almost two decades. Her veteran songwriting experience shows in the smart song arrangements on her latest, a softer rock endeavor called Lights.
The production on this album gives Kropf’s ear for melody and harmony and her lyrical strength the space to shine, as she hones a voice that can be gentle and breathy as well as belting. Her vocals imply aching and yearning, and are the perfect accompaniment to the clean, thoughtful instrumentation that twinkles and shines.
Lights is a slower, down-tempo record. It’s for a rainy summer day, or to play on a reflective road trip to a place you’ve never been before.
