I'm all for higher wages for quality work, but doesn't the cleaning company set the wages? If so, how would Ellis raise their wages? It's likely that Ellis has a year-long contract with the new cleaning company. Maybe next year they can ask the cleaning company to raise the cleaners' wages, or shop around for another cleaning service that pays more. Regardless...there's little they can do about it now. I mean...should they pull out of their current contract and leave 7 new people without jobs in the middle of the year? That seems pretty heartless to me.
