Audiences are invited to celebrate Black History Month with this powerful performance of African American spirituals featuring four soloists and two actors backed by the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Leading the audience along the Underground Railroad through storytelling, actors will illuminate the secret codes used by those who traversed the Railroad and explain the importance of the era's songs. The show's cast will include internationally acclaimed operatic soprano Elisabeth Stevens, who also runs career workshops for young singers, and will host one while in Pittsburgh. Tickets go on sale September 1.
