But The Fourteenth Goldfish and its 2018 sequel The Third Mushroom, follow Ellie, a girl whose world gets turned upside when her scientist grandpa shows up in the body of a 14-year-old boy. Author and Newbery Medalist Jennifer L. Holm, who appears at Carnegie Library Lecture Hall, weaves themes of family, death, immortality, and discovery into her stories. Holm is the author of over two-dozen children’s books, including the Babymouse series and the Squish series.
