Whoever wrote this article has never spent more than a minute at the Wood St T station. Fights between youths passing through that station are a common and regular occurrence. There's a reason that 2-3 Port Authority officers are stationed there constantly. All kinds of people are at that station at any given time of day. If those boys were arrested, it's because they were in the middle of some sh*t.
Further, the Kelley incident as an example of unchecked police power is ridiculous. Confronted over drinking in public by multiple police officers, Mr Kelley's response was to draw a knife and stab a police dog to death. He turned what might have been a disorderly conduct or drinking in public citation deadly, through his own choices.
