Front Porch Society

Election day 2008 feels like a lifetime ago. It was much more optimistic time, politically, where people could feel a palpable positive change in the air (unlike today's stale, heavy air). Front Porch Society, at New Horizon Theater, Inc., is set in small-town Mississippi on the day of Barack Obama's first election. Written by playwright Melda Beaty, it follows four elderly black women, old enough to have lived through segregation, sitting on a porch while musing about a day they thought would never come.
