After reading this review, I have a question: Why was Mr. Isenberg sent to review a show he hated before even walking in the door? I don't understand how this is in any way helpful to the reader looking to a reviewer to provide some (hopefully) experienced feedback on a production. Many people enjoy, even love "JCS." and they are not all Christian, nor were they all around in 1971. When I see reviewer spout off a review that is no way helpful to the reader, I can't help but think, "What is their purpose in the paper in the first place?" I'm not defending this performance. I haven't seen it. Although, if you sift through Mr. Isenberg's quagmire of whining, it seems he actually respected the performances. It confuses me that reviewers are sent to shows that they are pre-destined to despise. I mean, whose idea was it to send Ted Hoover to see "Mary Poppins?"
