Day-by-day with the 123d Pennsylvania Volunteers

When: Wed., Sept. 20, 7-8:30 p.m. 2017

Christopher D. George will discuss his book, Day-by-day with the 123d Pennsylvania Volunteers: A Nine-month Civil War Regiment from Allegheny County. The formation of this regiment was sparked by a devout and patriotic pastor from Allegheny City (now known as the North Side) who inspired the trust and allegiance of men from all over the Pittsburgh region. What started as a company of “Christian Soldiers” quickly swelled to an entire regiment of men eager to “whip up the rebs” and win the war for the North.
