Daniel Alarcón Book Reading

One of our most celebrated younger writers visits Alphabet City. Last year, Daniel Alarcón’s story collection The King Is Always Above the People was longlisted for a National Book Award; The New Yorker recently named the author and journalist one of the 20 best writers under 40. Stories in The King explore migration, betrayal, family secrets and doomed love. Alarcón, born in Peru and based in New York, reads from the book tonight. -Bill O'Driscoll
