Please keep this in mind while deciding from your safe little office cubicle that the PGH Police are so terrible. We have over 300,000 calls for service a year in Pittsburgh. Thats over 800 per day. That does not even include all the undocumented interactions that we have with the public. Ever go to a restaurant, or a supermarket, or your little office luncheons? I bet not everyone there is always friendly. Guess what, sometimes the police aren't perfect. Sometimes, they are rude, ignorant, unprofessional, and surprise surprise, wrong. This might come as a shock to many, but we are human beings. Most of you know, or are related to a police officer. Are we really that bad? Out of 850 police in PGH, there are bound to be a few problems or complaints. It is minimal compared to the amount of great officers we have. There is a large amount of good that we do out there everyday, and guess what? Just like at your job, we only get recognition when we screw up. This also might be shocking, but most of our dealings with people are when things are going bad. Domestics, fights, violence, drunks, narcotics, ect.ect. Sometimes we even have to yell at people, because in the real world, there are bad guys. You know what else people do to us? They lie, yep, can you believe it? People lie to us everyday. It's amazing. And they lie when they make complaints. Crazy huh? While you sleep safely in your little sheep bed, the sheep dogs(thats the police for those of you that don't get it)are out fighting the wolves. Sleep well little sheep, and keep your bikes out of Point State Park, Please.
