Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Doors and Windows

When: Fri., Feb. 9, 8 p.m. and Sat., Feb. 10, 8 p.m. 2018

Modern-dance pioneer Martha Graham was a native of Allegheny City, and her signature works include a four-minute solo entitled “Lamentation.” But best as Maria Caruso can tell, no Pittsburgh-based artist has previously been licensed to perform that 1930 work in Graham’s hometown. That changes this weekend as Caruso herself dances “Lamentation” as part of her troupe Bodiography Contemporary Ballet’s program Doors and Windows. “Lamentation,” with its unique costuming (a long, loose cylindrical garment of elastic fabric) joins Caruso’s own newest group work; selections from Kaleidoscope, her 2007 ballet set to music by Dave Matthews Band; and more, tonight and tomorrow at the Byham Theater. - Bill O'Driscoll
