All eight Democrats vying for the right to try and unseat GOP Incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett will attend a Jan. 26 candidate's forum, according to Sam Hens Greco, chair of the city's 14th Ward Democratic Committee.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Carnegie Mellon University's McConomy Auditorium, 5032 Forbes Avenue. Doors open a t 1 p.m. Other event sponsors include the 7th Ward Democratic Committee, the 14th Ward Independent Democratic Club and the CMU Democrats.

The eight candidates are U.S. Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, who has led her opponents in polling numbers thus far; Katie McGinty, former Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection; John Hanger, another former Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection; Pennsylvania Treasurer Rob McCord; Max Myers, a businessman and minister; Jo Ellen Litz, county commissioner of Lebanon County; Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski and Thomas Wolf, a businessman and former Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue

The candidates have been campaigning since last year when it became obvious that Corbett and his low approval numbers were ripe for a serious challenge.

It appears that Corbett is starting to recognize his vulnerability because he's even starting to waiver a bit on social issues where he's traditionally held hardcore opposition like LGBT discrimination bills. He even let go of his plan to privatize the state's lottery with a U.K. company that few citizens or legislators favored.

But don't get too excited. A report out of Harrisburg yesterday that the governor was softening his stance on medical marijuana was quickly put down by his staff. And hes still the guy that decided to compare same-sex marriage to incest last year.
