BLADE: TRINITY

comment
Veteran vampire assassin and Marvel superhero Blade (Wesley Snipes) -- a vamp hybrid with a bad haircut -- finds himself captured by the FBI after mistakenly killing a human in the raging war against the recently resurrected Dracula (Dominic Purcell), until a splinter cell of young vampire hunters called the "Nightstalkers" led by a funnyman (Ryan Reynolds) and a diva (Jessica Biel) arrive blasting to his aid. This new generation of slayers -- who listen to MP3s while disintegrating gangs of bloodsuckers -- try to convert an old-school Blade, who still fights with a sword, to new killing toys. The trio has one chance to stop this modern-day menace with a serum created to destroy the bloodline once and for all. Director David S. Goyer combines martial arts and special effects to create visual eye-candy in the fight scenes, but goes overboard with cheesy humor, showing the trinity having a little too much fun. (JB)
