Banding Together for Tsunami Relief

"We were just hanging out when we heard about what happened and wanted to come up with an idea of a way to help," says Chris Condello, rhythm guitarist for the band Drop Monday. "Hanging out" has now turned into a five-band tsunami-relief concert at Hard Rock Café in Station Square on Jan. 14. Show organizers hope to raise $4,000.

Proceeds will go to the local Brother's Brother Foundation, which has years of experience channeling relief supplies overseas. The foundation has already supplied pediatric and adult antibiotics, anti-malaria drugs, respirators and other medical supplies to areas affected by the catastrophe.

"There is no one supply needed over another by the survivors of the disaster," says Karen Dempsey, foundation development director. "Everything is critical."

Tsunami Rock Aid Concert features Venus in Furs, Mojo Filter, 3LB Universe, Drop Monday and Dodging August. 8 p.m., Fri., Jan. 14. Hard Rock Café, Station Square. $5 at the door. See www.dropmonday.com or www.brothersbrother.org.
