I'm a white male; junior in highschool. My father walked away from me abruptly my freshman year. Giving me no warning of the event. I too live in a terrible neighborhood, one where I need to constantly look over my back to see if there's a threat. And my grandfather ( I live with him ) isn't well financially by any means. So let's add this up. Family dysfunctions, unsafe neighborhood, and poverty like conditions. However I still maintain a 3.8 GPA Average. But oh wait! None of that should affect me because I'm white! Why does the color of my skin put me at such a disadvantage to this world. Just because this kid is BLACK means that he should get recruitments eliminated? Regardless of being black, white, or purple, if you don't make that 2.5 GPA average, tough luck kid. Welcome to the real world and there's your first slap on the back.
