As a psychologist, and specialist in adolescence, I agree with Dr. Freguson. Sexting is not something that should be considered worthy of sex-offender status. Sexting is a world wide phenomenon and it is related to self-image and power within a group.
I am currently conducting research on sexting and invite you to do an anonymous, online survey at: http://tests.queendom.com/research/index.html
Students as young as 13 can participate. Their comment to me:" doing this survey helps us think about what we are doing and makes it easier to talk about it."
Since we do need to understand why both girls and boys are willing and wanting to expose themselves sexually, we need lots of research. Please help by going to the above
link and asking anyone from age 13 to do it as well.
