Wilco

Last year around this time i fell in love with Canadian alt-country artist Doug Paisley, and I sort of forgot about him until yesterday when i came across my copy of Strong Feelings. So imagine my delight at hearing he'll appear at the Pittsburgh Winery on Nov. 8. He'll be joined by folk singer Joan Shelley ($10-12, on sale now).

In other news, a couple of hip-hop tours are stopping at Altar Bar including Casey Veggies on Nov. 10 ($16-18, on sale now) and Skizzy Mars with Kool John and P-Lo on Feb. 9 ($17-20, on sale now).

Indigenous and the Jeff Fetterman Band will be at the Hard Rock Cafe on Jan. 28, 2016 ($13-15, on sale Sat.)

NYC's Parlour Tricks plays Spirit on Nov. 13 ($10, on sale now).

This Saturday, on Oct. 17,  Black Forge Coffee House in Allentown hosts prog metal duo Indian Handcrafts ($10, on sale now).

And coming to the Palace Theater in Greenfield next year: Belinda Carlisle on April 6 ($49-59, on sale Oct. 23) and Robin Trower (also $49-59, on sale Oct. 23).

Some more stuff: Wilco will appear at the Benedum Center along with William Tyler on January 25 (tickets start at $38.75, on sale Friday). Leon Bridges and Audra Day play Stage AE on June 3 ($24.99 - 27.50, on sale Friday).

And speaking of Stage AE, on Nov. 5, that venue, along with Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), hosts a concert by the The Stickers. The show is free, but a $10 donation at the door will go towards Veterans Leadership Program.

Concert announcements: Joanna Newsom, Killing Joke, Iron Butterfly
Annabel Mehran
Joanna Newsom
Later this month, Joanna Newsom will release her new record Divers, and whats even more exciting (if you're into that kind of thing) is that on Dec. 12, she'll bring her tour to the Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall ($29-49, on sale Friday). If I'm not mistaken, this will be the singer-songwriter-harpist-etc's  first appearance in Pittsburgh since her 2006 show at the Warhol.

In slightly odder news, Creed Bratton — who you may know from The Office, where he also went by "Creed" —will present a night of music and comedy at the Hard Rock Cafe on Nov. 14 ($15-250, on sale Friday). Bratton was actually a musician before he was an actor (in the 1960s he was a member of the band The Grass Roots), so its actually not quite as strange as it sounds.

Iron Butterfly will  play "In Da Gadda Da Vita" (i assume) at Altar Bar on Dec. 12 ($23-25, on sale Saturday). Also at Altar Bar:  Lil Debbie on Nov. 4 ($18-20, on sale now); Brain Fallon and the Crowes Jan. 12 ($22-25, on sale Friday); and Killing Joke on Feb. 17, 2016 ($20-100, on sale now).

And a few more things:

John Mark Nelson comes to the Smiling Moose on Oct. 28 ($10, on sale now).

Mike Why & Brian Fitzy will be at Club Cafe on Nov. 25 ($10-15, on sale Friday)

The Werks play at the Rex on Nov. 27 ($12-15, on sale now).

And Holly Bowling plays the music of Phish at the Pittsburgh Winery on Nov. 12 ($15, on sale now).

If you're confused as to why all your Facebook friends are RSVP-ing to David Duchovny at the Altar Bar, it's because the actor is officially a musician - he had to do something with his free time after his split from Tea. Here are some artists coming to Altar Bar who were NOT on The X-Files (as far as i know): The Acacia Strain on November 8 ($15-18, on sale now); Mod Sun on November 1 ($20, on sale Friday); Emery on November 5 ($18-20, on sale Friday); PigPen Theater Co. on October 13 ($12-15, on sale Friday).
