Hey! College student types!
City Paper is seeking a music intern for the fall 2012 semester! Experienced writers with an interest in all types of music are encouraged to apply for the position. The internship schedule is flexible, requiring about 15 hours of work a week on average. There is a small stipend involved.
City Paper covers Pittsburgh: local bands, artists and DJs; touring acts hitting town; the interesting and quirky characters who make the music scene. If you have an eye for what’s going on beneath the average person’s radar, and an interest in music new and old, you might be right for the job. A working knowledge of AP style is a major plus — a knowledge of music is great, but above all, this is a writing internship. People who should apply for this internship include but are not limited to: A&E writers, college-radio DJs who know their grammar, people who usually write about politics but also know who both Roky Erickson and Aesop Rock are; people whose favorite band is from Pittsburgh; people who have read City Paper before.
To apply, please e-mail your resume and three relevant writing samples to Andy Mulkerin. Any questions should be e-mailed as well. No phone calls, please! Seriously! We’re busy over here!
Deadline for applications is Fri., Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. The internship should start on our around Tues., Sept. 11.
Good luck! Below is a PDF with all the info, in case you want to save it, or print it and put it somewhere where good writers might see it.
