This week, Pittsburgh City Council could once again possibly move forward with a rental registry ordinance that was first proposed in November. The ordinance would require landlords to register property located within the City of Pittsburgh at a cost of $65 per year, per unit.

The ordinance is again on the agenda for the June 17 meeting. If movement doesn't occur at the meeting this week, it will be the eighth time the ordinance has been held since December.

At a meeting on May 20, Council President Bruce Kraus said the mayor's administration requested a 3-week hold on the legislation. The request to hold the ordinance was passed and the rental registry came back up at the June 10 meeting where it was again held.

This week council will also consider two papers (here and here) allocating $150,000 for the 2015 Learn and Earn
Summer Youth Employment Program.

Another resolution being presented to council is one from the committee on land use and economic development, requesting a cost analysis of creating an in-house demolition division.
