The members of the Western Pennsylvania unit of the Herb Society of America will hold their annual herb plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, 614 Dorseyville Road, Fox Chapel.
Herbs, all locally grown by the members, will include the usual suspects, as well as plants not easily found in local nurseries. A list of the herbs for sale is available on the society's website. Books and handmade items will also be available for sale.
The herb society maintains public gardens at Mellon Park in Shadyside and Old Economy Village in Ambridge. Monthly meetings are held on third Mondays. The local unit was established in 1958 and includes about 40 members, many of whom hold a wealth of knowledge about how to grow and use herbs.
