Bikers! Urban designers! Saddle up and submit plans for Shadyside bike corrals

Cycling issues around the city have been in the news a lot lately. But here's a piece of good news: The Shadyside Action Coalition is seeking proposals to create bike corrals at metered parking spots in Shadyside.

City councilor Bill Peduto has launched a public design competition for the corrals, which will be located on Walnut Street, Ellsworth Avenue and South Highland Avenue, according to a press release sent out by his office.

The competition is open to the public. Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts from the neighborhood as well as the cycling and design communities.

"These bike corrals will continue the process of creating complete streets throughout Shadyside," Peduto said in his release. "Our neighborhood business districts belong to the community and it is exciting to provide all members of the public an opportunity to propose a new design."

Submissions and questions can be sent to [email protected].
