Not exactly "Braveheart": A Scottish separatist is accused of sending all those e-mail threats to Pitt earlier this year.

A new poll shows President Obama holding onto a 6-point lead against challenger Mitt Romney, despite a majority of voters disapproving of Obama's handling of the economy. The poll was carried out between Aug. 7 and 12, so the addition of wild-man Paul Ryan to the GOP ticket probably had little impact.

Of course, that lead may not do much good if Obama's supporters can't vote in November ...

The Post-Gazette looks at statistics on bike/car accidents ... and guess what? A lot of times, the car driver is at fault!

Also from the P-G, Keith Rothfus, the Tea Party challenger to Democratic Congressman Mark Critz, won't say whether he would have supported Paul Ryan's slash-and-burn budget proposals, which were backed by House Republicans. "I appreciate the broad framework he's coming from ... but I want to have input on something I'm voting for." Translation: I would have voted for the budgets, but don't have the stones to tell you that until after I get elected.

A new biography of Joe Paterno promises lots of tears, family drama, and some tough shots at former PSU president Graham Spanier.
