I work as an entertainer in pgh. I'm required to pay my boss a fee to work there, I get charged extra if I'm running late, also, tip the DJ, the bartender (whose the owner) and the bar maid with my tip $.
Before we paid a fee, we got paid $25. $5 to the DJ, $5 to bar, $5 to jukebox, $5 to bar maid and then we got 1099'd so that remaining $5 went to taxes.
If I made $250 a night and someone else was responsible to get dirty and clean up people's messes so I didn't have to I'd GLADLY chip in $10 simply to say THANK YOU. Don't get pissy when you get stiffed on customer tips and all you did was take their order... Someone else does the dirty work for you!
