What (other than established political elites with a lot to lose and some vague claims about voting security) keeps us from going to internet voting? You don't have to mandate that people vote; just make it easier to do so. Early voting, multi-day voting, government holidays on election days, mail-in ballots, et al: there are lots of other tools we have to get voting rates up before we start using the iron glove of mandates. If we really cared, we'd be using more options already, but the truth is that we don't really care that much about low voter turnout.
Jazz blows, especially the old stuff they play on DUQ. If public radio's mission is to serve the community, I think a good source of local news that can take a full hour to dig into issues would be priority #1. Once that's filled, then you can move onto non-commercial music (alternative, jazz, classical). It blew my mind that a city Pittsburgh's size didn't have a news station when I moved here.
