UPDATE: Shortly after this blog post went up, the @RepRothfus account was suspended. Although the account came to me by way of other journos and others, it's possible that this was a hoax account which I fell into. I will try to get to the bottom of it, but of course the point is ... at this point I can't say for sure. Which makes it pretty fucking stupid to have posted this at all. My apologies.

UPDATE 2: Per JD Prose of the Beaver County Times (who also bit on this account, Team Rothfus says this Twitter account was a fake. My sincerest apologies to Rothfus, and to readers. I'm leaving this post up, but only as a monument to my own stupidity.

Congratulations, voters of US House District 12: You just elected a Congressman who apparently.approvingly quotes people longing for the collapse of the United States!

Earlier today, newly elected Keith Rothfus launched his new soon-to-be-official-Congressional Twitter account, @RepRothfus. And for the most part, he's been inaugurating it the way you'd expect: by quoting right-wing harridan Michelle Malkin and casting stones at Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner (according to Rothfus, Boehner compromises too much!).

But Rothfus also retweeted a message from one "Anarchy Mile," an apparent Mitt Romney supporter who offered these heartfelt post-election sentiments: "Fuck it, let the crash come, let the American people get exactly what they asked for and exactly what they deserve."

So in case you were wondering what the Tea Party negotiating position was going to be on this whole fiscal cliff thing, I guess you have your answer.
