Stream Run Forever's new self-titled album
Sarah Wilson
Run Forever

You may have already read this week's cover story on local indie rock band Run Forever, whose new self-titled full-length comes out Fri., Oct. 9 on No Sleep Records. But no need to wait till Friday to hear it ... we're streaming the entire record below.

Almost seven years in, Run Forever is the band's best effort yet, thanks to frontman Anthony Heubel's ever-strengthening knack for hooky melodies and heart-wrenching lyrics. The members haven't fully abandoned their emo and pop punk roots — there are moments on the record that evoke The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me-era Brand New. But, Heubel told us, "We’ve listened to the same music throughout the span of [making] Run Forever, and I think we’re finally heading in a direction where what we like is lining up with what we’re playing.” Which means that listeners can expect to hear shades of Bright Eyes, Pedro the Lion, A.A. Bondy and Magnolia Electric Company.

Pre-order Run Forever here, or buy a copy at the record release show at Assemble on Sun., Oct. 18. Outer Spaces, Fun Home and Teeth Like Yours will also perform. 6 p.m. 5125 Penn Ave., Garfield. 412-254-4230 or www.assemblepgh.org

Carousel
If you're a fan of bluesy classic rock, you may have already heard that Pittsburgh's very own Carousel has a new record coming out — it's first with guitarist Matt Goldsborough, also of Pentagram and The Skull. The Tee Pee Records signees  will release 2113 the follow-up to 2013's Jewelers' Daughter — on August 28, and the band will celebrate with a release show at Spirit, in Lawrenceville, on September 4. In the mean time, take a listen to the title track from the record below ... and you can check out Andy Mulkerin's 2012 profile of Carousel here.
