Honcho Debut Party ft. Mike Servito

Editor's note: Unfortunately, we just got wind that Alaska Thunderfuck procured enough of the aforementioned spaceship items and will no longer be in attendance. Some Tweetbot spread her twitter handle all about the interwebs and she instantaneously collected enough followers to make her spaceship run once again. We may get to see her in another dimension. Fingers crossed.

While the country is busy debating over whether or not gay marriage should be legal, Pittsburgh is going to celebrate the gay community by partying until the sun comes up. To close the first week of Pride and essentially begin the second, a new techno collective, aptly named Honcho, will be throwing what's sure to be a banger of a soiree on Saturday the 9th.

Housed in an undisclosed warehouse downtown, Honcho will feature the likes of Alaska Thunderfuck, who, based on the description on Facebook, can only be hours of entertainment. She’s a glamazon from another planet and, according to the aforementioned description, is “trying to attain enough weave bond, cigarettes, and Twitter followers to repair her spacecraft and make it back to her home planet once again." Come for the spectacle if nothing else.

On a more serious dance music note, Mike Servito of Ghostly International, a mainstay at the Movement Electronic Music Festival, will be behind the decks. Despite his New York City roots, he’s had the privilege of gracing the Made in Detroit Stage in years past and this year was one of the hardest working DJs in the city playing a handful of after-parties that went until 9am, or something ridiculous like that. Clearly, the man is perfectly qualified to take the party ‘til all hours of the night with a quality selection of both old and new house and techno.

Also on the bill are DJ Ben Manzone, an up-and-coming producer from NYC, as well as some of our local favorites DJs: Edgar Um, Dad Time! and Aaron Clark.

There will also be quality visuals presented by VIA featuring artists Scott Andrew and Jonathan Armistead. And for all you tech-geeks out there, Komputer Kontrolled will be providing an LED light installation, ya know, just in case this event wasn’t enough of a sensory overload.

Whether you’re gay, straight or totally not sure, visit the Facebook event page for more details and to stay posted on where exactly the top-secret warehouse is located. And if for some crazy reason you have to miss this one, fear not, this is to be the kick-off of the Honcho party series. These guys are not about to stop mixing drag queens with techno and light displays, the elixir is just too damn good.
