Details of the proposed Port Authority contract with employees are becoming clear. In a bid to stave off pending cuts to service, provisions include a two-year wage freeze, givebacks on vacation and health benefits. One surprise: a "poison pill" provision that allows the union to void the new deal and return to the current one if a continued lack of state funding forces widespread layoffs. Employees vote on the contract this weekend.

UPMC on the hotseat after a radiology technician fired from UPMC Presbyterian is alleged to be the Typhoid Mary of Hepatitis C.

Essential viewing: Harold Hayes' interview with the lone black juror on the Jordan Miles civil-rights trial. I'll have more to say about this later today; for now, I'll just say that Hayes' story provides an interesting contrast to this account of jury deliberations, provided by a white juror last week.
